Music for a Lifetime

Henry Kerr Williams recently received registrations for copyrights for music he composed while living at Brittany Pointe Estates in southeastern Pennsylvania. For 5 1/2years he has worked at his parlor grand piano, continuing to write, concentrating on music to accompany the exact wording of the psalms from the King James Version of the Bible. After he had composed music for 15 different psalms, he decided to have the material registered and, in late 2008, he mailed his Musical Meditations on the Psalms to the Library of Congress. He recently received notification that his work has been registered with the Copyright Office of the United States.

He dedicated the musical meditation on Psalm 1 to Doris Krewson, who has served as the organist for church services at Brittany Pointe since its inception. Other musical meditations are dedicated to friends at Brittany Pointe for their inspiration or cooperation or both. Two of the psalms have been sung at Brittany Pointe, one at a vesper service and the other at a church service.

During his lifetime he has written two operas, three symphonies, one string quartet, one woodwind quartet, one brass octet, and chamber music. He was the founder and symphony conductor for both the Delaware Valley Philharmonic Orchestra and the Valley Forge Philharmonic Orchestra. Previously, Williams had led the singing for church services at Brittany Pointe and conducted the Songsters.

Williams also submitted and received a copyright as composer of the music for the opera “Jesus’ Family” with the libretto written by Ralph Rush of Abington Baptist Church.  He has now written 11 more musical meditations on the psalms and will submit these and others for registered copyrights in the future.
